The design of the Davie street Nuba takes its tone from the flux and flow of effervescent Yaletown, with its top tier restaurants, deluxe cocktail bars, exclusive boutiques and its endless parade of rare pets. The particular international air of the neighbourhood led us to think about the architecture of the new Middle Eastern metropolis. Nuba blends the ancient geometries of the madinah with the digital buzz of the 21st century city.

During the 1940s, the basement of the Dominion Building was converted into a bustling diner with stainless steel and miles of curvery lunch counters. The original Nuba restaurant was inspired by an independent and modern Beirut during the 1940s.
