Nuba Proudly Supports Access Gallery

Access is a non-profit organization dedicated to emergent contemporary art practices. Access strives to spark critical conversations about contemporary art through experimentation and risk-taking within the gallery space and beyond.   This Saturday (May 23), in celebration of Access’ Lottery Calendar Fundraiser, join them for a reception of bits, bites (from Nuba!), and bubbly for the Grand Prize draw and announcement. The Lottery Calendar is an important annual event for the organization as funds raised help to ensure the vitality of the centre and its ongoing support of innovative emergent and experimental artistic practices. If you missed out on purchasing a lottery ticket this year, but would still like to support Access Gallery's fine programming and initiatives, you can make donations on their website.   Access Gallery 222 East Georgia Street Saturday, May 23 4:00 PM

17th Annual Golden Plates Awards in the Georgia Straight

Once again, it's that time of year for the Georgia Straight's Golden Plates Awards. Over the years Nuba has done extremely well in the annual survey of Vancouver's best restaurants thanks mostly to you and partly to our dedicated team of hackers. We humbly ask that you take a moment to cast a vote for your favourite group of Lebanese restaurants in Vancouver (hint: it's Nuba).   It's a rather daunting ballot with 165 categories, but you only need to fill out 30 of them to have your vote count. So if you get stuck on ones like Best Casino For Eats or Best Restaurant For Watching The Game, best to not think about it too hard and just nominate Nuba. You have until Friday, February 5 to place your votes and as an added bonus for filling out a ballot, you'll be entered to win a ton of great prizes. Thank you for your support!   Click here for the Golden Plates ballot

Nuba Proudly Supports Change Your Hair, Change a Life

In 2003, Stephanie's father lost his battle with liver cancer. Since this happened, every summer has been a time for self-reflection for her with close friends and family on what she has gained, lost, and learned. Ten years later, she's decided to do something a little different in commemoration of his death and turn his anniversary into a way of giving back to others: She is going to cut off her long, silky hair and donate it to Wigs for Kids to make a wig!   Cutting off your hair is never an easy decision but it's free. However, making the wig itself will cost upwards of $3,000 and this is where you come in. Stephanie will be hosting a raffle at the Tsawwassen Movie Night screening of The Lorax on August 10th at Diefenbaker Park. Prizes include gift certificates from Nuba, Shanti Yoga, and Nikko Sushi.

If you can't make the movie night, please give generously here as there are some great donation perks that include button pins, illustrated prints, and portrait sessions.
